GRAPO
   The Grupos de Resistencia Antifascista Primero de Octubre (Anti-Fascist Resistance Groups of the First of October) were a supposedly left-wing terrorist organization which took its name from the date in 1975 when Franco, only a few weeks before his death, made a speech to a large rally of the Falange, which was held to express support for tough law-and-order policies. The timing of bombings and shootings claimed by GRAPO, however, gave rise to suspicion that the organization had been infiltrated by far-right groups, who were using it to further a deliberate policy of destabilization. GRAPO's activities intensified, for example, just before the passage of the Law of Political Reform in November 1976, and in the aftermath of the Tejerazo in 1981.
